Out On A Limb Records will have a party to mark their 5th birthday in Dolan’s Upstairs room in Limerick on Friday November 21.
The label that brought you Crayonsmith, Hooray For Humans (debut album Safekeeping is to be released in the UK next month on Smalltown America), Rest, Ten Past Seven, giveamanakick and Windings (who will play Electric Picnic) promise a “dandy night” with “OOAL bands, djs, maybe cake, and maybe cheap and potent plonk.” Tickets will be available soon.

Without a doubt this is Ireland’s best value festival, with a line up that has gone from strength to strength in its three year history.
This non-profit festival descends on Mitchelstown every August Bank Holiday weekend with a simple manifesto: highlight the best in emerging Irish music talent for free (that said they obviously hope to fill the donation buckets that go around the venue – this all has to be paid for somehow).
Since 2005 acts such as The Frank & Walters, Sultans of Ping, Director and Delorentos have taken to the festival’s main stage come rain or shine, and 2007’s festival brought the rain in droves, drowning all and sundry.
With high hopes that the sun may shine, this year sees Gemma Hayes and Cathy Davey headlining, with Fight Like Apes and Ham Sandwich returning to Mitchelstown for their second consecutive year, due in no small part to the straightforward fun of the thing; the community spirit of the festival extendeds to the club night that sees bands and fans alike on the dancefloor.
Indie Pendence has hit a rocky patch financially this year, with the late pull out of a major drinks sponsor leaving the event severely underfunded and in bad need of generosity from punters getting a decent line up for nothing.
Friday night promises a good homecoming for Gemma Hayes, a native of Ballyporeen in Co. Tipp, a stones throw away from Mitchelstown, but Saturday night will be the big draw with the one-two of Cathy Davey and Fight Like Apes heading the billing.
Here’s the full skinny on the line up, Guess List will be there for the weekend and will bring reports, interviews and pics in the next week!
